Region 9 - August 2006 Minutes

 

Region 9 held its August meeting on August 16, 2006 at 7:30PM with Region Director Russ Shetley presiding.

General Business:

 

  • Butch Sickler gave brief presentation on the Virginia C.A.S.T for Kids upcoming Tournament on Saturday, September 30 at Pohick Bay starting at 6:30 AM. Butch will be contacting members that advised that they will provide a boat for the event.
  • Discussion on raising Tournament Entry Fees for State Tournament and also Region 9 Tournaments. The increased cost would be used to off-set expenses for 20 Man Team and provide a larger pay-back for each tournament.  All Clubs need to be prepared to discuss this issue at the next Region 9 meeting in September.
  • Russ sent out an email concerning the 50/50 Rule for each Club. Several Clubs’ still need to make one or more of the remaining events. Give Russ a call if you are unsure about your Club.
  • The South Hill Best Western has been changed to the Cross Road Inn and Conference Center.
  • The State appointed a Committee to look into ways to save money. Russ is chairman.
  • On January 20, 2007 there will be an Open Federation Meeting in South Hill at 1 PM for any Federation members to meet with the State Board and discuss important matters.
  • When you submit your new roster to Ann, please make sure every member has a FLW #.

 

Tournament News:

 

  • The St. Jude’s tournament raised $ 5,100
  • The Children’s Miracle Network tournament is August 26 at Leesylvania State Park. Set up is on Friday, August 25 at 1:00PM. Russ will need help sitting up the site. Russ will send out email about the Tournament.
  • The 2006 Fall Classic is on the Chick. More to follow.
  • Region 9 will host the 2007 Mr. Bass on March 31st and April 1, 2007. Russ is working on Site and Hotel for event.
  • Region 9’s Tournament on the Potomac for August 20, 2006 will be a 5 fish limit of bass 12” and over. Blast off will be at safe light and weigh-in will be at 3:00 PM.
